25 September 2013: Islay’s independent farm distillery, Kilchoman, is to release the oldest whisky to date. Only 10,000 bottles of the limited edition 2007 Vintage will be made available worldwide and it is expected to sell quickly.
With a smoky vanilla and caramel nose with cooked lemon and citrus fruits, the 2007 Vintage is smooth in the mouth with hints of butterscotch and soft citrus fruit, complimented by a lasting sweetness that blends with the peaty and fruity finish.
Anthony Wills, managing director of Kilchoman, said: “This is an exciting development and sees us enter a long-awaited period in our history. Although we’re a relatively young distillery our Vintage six-year-old shows a level of maturity normally associated with much older whisky. We predict that this will sell quickly and hope Kilchoman followers share in our excitement in the development of our malt.”
Kilchoman’s portfolio now includes Machir Bay, Loch Gorm and a new edition of 100% Islay which is the only Single Malt in Scotland where every stage of the whisky making process, from the barley grown in the surrounding fields to the malting, distillation, maturation and bottling, takes place at the distillery.
With an ambition to take whisky production back to its traditional roots, Anthony Wills built and founded Kilchoman Distillery in 2005 on a farm situated on the rugged west coast of Islay. The first distillery on the island for 124 years, Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland and one of only a handful left that still practise the traditional floor malting method.
The 2007 Vintage bottled at 46% ABV will be available from 7 October from specialist drinks and whisky stores, priced at RRP of £52.99, 70cl. Available from www.kilchomandistillery.com and from specialist whisky shops worldwide.

Hverdagen for de udstationerede betjente i den vindblæste landsby Pitlochry i Tayside, Skotland, er noget anderledes end for kollegernes i storbyerne. Her er tempoet roligt, og ofte kan en tilspidset situation klares med et løftet øjenbryn fra betjentenes side. Men selvom kriminaliteten er lav, har betjentene nok at se til. De skal dække mere end 1000 kvadratkilometer, og der sker ofte voldsomme trafikuheld på de øde landeveje. I "Patrulje"-delen er to politifolk fra Udlændingekontrolafdelingen i Maribo steget på toget mod København. De ved af erfaring, at stikprøvekontrollerne på togene næsten hver gang afslører falske dokumenter, illegale personer eller menneskesmuglere.
Der er mange steder i Skotland jeg ville betegne som vindblæste. Pitlocj´hry er ca. det sidste, men lad os nu se

Whilst these grand events took place our little distillery stowed away a small batch of Oloroso Sherry Casks, waiting patiently with a special purpose in mind. After years of careful monitoring, these casks were selected from Glen Garioch’s revered inventory, right at the peak of their perfection.
The result is Glen Garioch’s Vintage 1999, a Sherry Cask Matured small batch release Non Chill-Filtered to retain Glen Garioch’s signature full-bodied Highland character. Bottled at Cask Strength 56.3% ABV you’ll be greeted by treacle toffee, chocolate and maple syrup with a hint of spice.

Kavalan Fino skulle være fremragende - smagte i den?Kavalan i sommerferien og det er fin whisky, men når han giver karakterer langt over halvfems, så er man ikke i tvivl om at der er korruption indblandet

De bliver aftappet på Kilchoman i disse dage, så der går nok et par uger inden de lander i DK.

artiklen er desværre håbløst overfladisk og er tydeligvis ikke skrevet af en der selv har forstand på god whisky.
Uden at ville udnævne mig selv til ekspert, vil jeg dog gerne supplere med et par tips hentet i Scotland.
Kun single malt whisky fortjenes at nydes som en smagsoplevelse, alle blended produkter kan drikkes som long drinks eller i kaffe for den sags skyld, så her taler vi om single malt intet andet.
start med at købe din whisky som cask strength der er ingengrund til at købe den fortyndet, kun afgifts og skatteregler får skotterne til at fortynde whisky, blæs på merudgiften og køb den ren.
server altid whisky ved stuetemperatur, altid i et glas der er bredere i bunden end i toppen dvs enten timbleren eller et cognacglas. Kom Aldrig is i aldrig.
start med at nyde duften af whiskyen fyld næsen med aromaen så bliver smagsoplevelsen større,
server et glas koldt rent vand ved siden af tag en slurk vand af og til. nyd et stykke ren mørk chokolade sammen med din whisky Nyd den i gode venners lag.
Whisky er skabt til nydelse, drikker du for at blive stiv så vælg et billigere produkt.
Det er helt rigtigt, Roland B, du er IKKE en whiskyekspert, snarere lidt til grin

Ten years ago we created a bespoke blend of very peaty single malts for the owners of the Park Avenue Liquor Shop in New York.
We named it “Monster” and for the label graphics we used a 19th century illustration of a bizarre and strangely beautiful creature that appeared to us to capture the idea of the whisky.
It sold so well that when it became endangered we decided to share the idea with the rest of the world. We appended “The Peat” to the
front of “Monster” and breathed fresh life into the beautiful beast.
It has gone on to become our best-selling Compass Box whisky.
In 2013, let’s celebrate ten years of sharing the joys of the craft blender’s art, of inspiring others in the industry and of enjoying the balanced, peaty charms of this creation.
For this special bottling, we have produced a special recipe of The Peat Monster, maintaining the smoky, heavy-peated intensity of
the classic bottling and adding a bit more malty richness through the use of some very special, quite odd casks of peaty Highland
single malt.
Flavour Descriptors:
Intense aromas of peet-reek, smoke, seaside character and burnt ropes, with a subtle apple-fruitiness in the background. The palate is full, round and tremendously complex. Water brings out a spiceladen, sweet vanilla character, as well.
Distillery Sourcing:
Islay single malts distilled on the south shore of the island and in the village of Port Askaig.
Balanced with a rich, smoky Highland single malt and a fruity oily malt from the village of Brora.
Wood:
Primarily a mix of first-fill and refill American oak, plus approximately 2% new French oak for finishing.
Bottling Details:
Bottled at 48.9%. Not chill filtered. Natural colour
Limited Release of approx 5,700 bottles.
Bottled in September 2013.
