Gordon & MacPhail har aftappet et enkelt fad Glenlivet, der er produceret nytårsdag 1949. Det har ligget på et refill Sherry butt i 74 år inden fadet er blevet aftappet den 6 marts 2023. Der er aftappet 192 flasker ved 49,3%
Dave Broom, whisky writer, siger: "To find a whisky of this age is absolutely EXTRAORDINARY. What comes across immediately is the fruit - there's richness and there's depth. You have this wonderful interplay of distillery character, of oak and oxygen. It's a gift that keeps on giving.
"When you taste it, you taste time. You can taste all the vintages and everything that's happened. The concentration of fruits, the layers and the complexity are off the scale. You'd think it's an old whisky but it's not just an old whisky. It's an EXTRAORDINARY whisky."

Er man til gammel Brora, så kommer nu muligheden for at byde på den hidtil ældste Brora aftapning.
Aftapningen hedder Iris og er 50 år gammel og er fra 1972. Den kommer på auktion til oktober hos Hopetoun House i Edinburgh.
Der er kun aftappet denne ene og man skal nok have det store kreditkort frem, da det forventes at indbringe mindst £250000 for flasken.
Ejeren får så 1,5 liter 50 år gammel Brora.
Overskudet for salget går til "The Distillers’ Charity, principally to the Youth Action Fund, dedicated to transforming the lives of young people in Scotland"
Brora Iris master blender Dr Craig Wilson udtaler: “a style that has come to define the Brora iconic status”, having been crafted only during ‘fleeting periods’ of the distillery’s past.

Den 17. aftapning i Chess Malt serien er aftappet, en Glen Grant fra 1994 – 29 år gammel
Aftappet ved fadstyrke på 53,6% og har ligget på en Refill Barrel
Appearance: A golden straw color.
Nose: Warming notes of butterscotch, sultana, banana and a hint of spice.
Palate: Subtle hints of honey, citrus, a touch of ginger and biscuits
Finish: Long lasting fresh finish with barley and brioche.

Litha er en ny aftapning fra Macallan der har lagt på first fill sherry casks fra Jerez de la Frontera i spanien og er aftappet ved 40%
Litha er det keltiske ord for solhverv.
Noter (Macallan):
Nose: Butterscotch, vanilla and chocolate with citrus and tropical fruits
Palate: Vanilla ice cream topped with a berry compote, toasted oak, warming wood spice with salted caramel and pecans
Finish: Medium with fruits, vanilla and oak

Batch 3 af GlenAllachie 30yo er aftappet og der er frigivet 2400 flasker af denne.
Fadene er fra start 90'erne og typerne der er fundet til dette batch er Pedro Ximénez og Oloroso Sherry hogsheads, samt nogle American virgin oak casks.
Batch 3 er aftappet ved cask strength på 48,9%.
Said to “embody Sherry-matured indulgence”, the rare Scotch whisky’s flavour profile boasts sophisticated waves of rich espresso, chocolate-covered hazelnuts, grated ginger and stewed plums.
Billy Walker udtaler om denne aftapning: “The GlenAllachie team and I are thrilled to bring the next batch of our oldest core expression to market. Bottlings of this age and quality undeniably demonstrate the reward for patience and perseverance in whisky making.
“Our heather honey-forward distillate stands up well to ageing in rich Sherry wood, and the casks selected for this bottling certainly showcase this incredible union. Expect a refined whisky that exudes notes of rich cocoa, orange zest, honeycomb and cinnamon – a true delight.”
Noter (GlenAllachie):
Colour: Deeply Rich Mahogany.
Nose: Bursting with roasted almonds, honey and orchard fruits, with hints of worn leather and butterscotch, followed by orange zest and dark chocolate.
Taste: Lashings of grape must, hazelnut and honeycomb, followed by citrus fruits, toffee brittle and hints of ginger spice, with cinnamon and mocha on the finish.

2023 udgaven af Macallan Rare Cask er frigivet. Som tidligere, så er det en sherry aftapning uden aldersangivelse.
2023 er aftappet ved 43%
Nose: Soft notes of vanilla with rich raisin, followed by a sweet fusion of fresh apple, lemon and orange.
Palate: An intense sweet raisin dominates before giving way to vanilla and dark chocolate, with layers of light citrus zest.
Finish: Long, rich and velvety.

I samarbejde med Lalique og den amerikanske kunstner James Turrell, er Glenturret kommet med en ny aftapning med navnet Eight Decades. Hvis navnet James Turrell virker bekendt, så skyldes det måske at han er arkitikten bag The next Level (The Dome) ved Aros i Aarhus.
Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno har udvalgt 8 fade fra 1987 frem til 1998, der hver repræsentere en periode i James Turrell’s liv.
Der er aftappet 80 flasker ved 41,5%
Pris: ca. £80000 per flaske
