McClelland's Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky has taken a gold medal at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition 2004.

McClelland's took gold as the highest scoring malt in the category for Islay Single Malts. It was the highest scoring dram in a category which judged appearance, nose, palate, and overall balance on 100-point scale.

McClelland's is owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers, which is in turn owned by Suntory of Japan. The three McClelland's bottlings are, in fact, 5-year-old releases of the three Morrison Bowmore distilleries: Lowland (Auchentoshan), Highland (Glen Garioch), and Islay (Bowmore).
