The Scalasaig er en nyaftapper der gør sig i ø-aftapninger. I hvertfald ind til videre.
Island Hopper er 4 fade med unpeated Tobermory, der er afsluttet på oloroso sherry hogsheads i 1½ år inden det er aftappet.
"The balance between the ripe yellow stone fruits, savoury nuts and maritime salinity with the richer, spicy-sweet notes from the ex-sherry casks is extraordinary."
Der er aftappet 1450 flasker af denne, destilleret i 2013 og aftappet i 2021 ved 46,5%
Noter (The Scalasaig):
Nose: Smoked sweet teriyaki cured meats with a hint of spice and dried cake fruits.
Palate: Rich and robust. Warming hints of exotic spice, dried fruits and dark liquorice. Enveloping it all is the bold burning embers of a peat fire.
Finish: Salty sea breeze, sweet and warming with waves of maritime smoke.
